For one night only, the Downtown Main Library will trade quiet reading rooms for an unforgettable evening of curiosity and celebration.
On Thursday, June 25, 2026, The Library Foundation is hosting Booked for the Evening: Black, White, and READ — an after-hours, adults-only fundraiser that reimagines the Library as an immersive night out inspired by the world of periodicals and classic print culture.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m., guests will move through themed stations where stories leap off the page and each floor offers something unexpected. From interactive experiences and live music to hidden corners rarely seen by the public, the evening is designed to surprise even the most frequent Library visitors.
You can expect:
- Exclusive access to areas normally closed to the public
- Rare items from our special collections
- Hands-on activities and creative experiences
- Live entertainment throughout the building
- Curated food and specialty drinks
- Plenty of opportunities to explore, discover, and create
Booked for the Evening is more than just a celebration. Funds raised directly supports the programs, resources, and services that make CHPL a vital part of our community.
Last year’s inaugural event sold out quickly, drawing hundreds of guests for a truly one-of-a-kind evening inside the Library. This year promises even more after-hours Library magic.
- General Admission: $50 per guest
- Host/Hostess: $200 for two guests, plus additional recognition on event materials
- Sponsorships: $1,000+ (contact Ilona Piaskowy at ipiaskowy@supportchpl.org)
