The Library is saddened to learn of Dolly Parton's death. An iconic singer-songwriter and actress, Dolly was also a lifelong literacy advocate, and philanthropist. She was known as "the book lady" through her charity Imagination Library.
How Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio Works
Any child in Ohio between birth and age five can enroll in Imagination Library.
- Enroll your child at OhioImaginationLibrary.org.
- Your child will receive one book each month in the mail until their fifth birthday.
Imagination Library is available in all Ohio zip codes. Seventy percent of Ohio households with children under five are currently participating. Since establishing in Ohio in 2019, Imagination Library has mailed 26 million books.
Dolly Parton Day has been celebrated in Ohio on Aug. 9 since 2022, when Gov. Mike DeWine declared the day in honor of Imagination Library.
