We’re Halfway Through Summer Reading

Written by Mackenzie Manley, Content Specialist, Downtown Main Library

During the month of June, 28,410 kids and teens signed up for Summer Reading — an 8% increase in participation from last year. We’re so glad you joined us for Camp Read this season!

“We had a young kid come in to turn in his completed Summer Reading challenge sheet,” said Amanda, a staff member at the Maderia Branch Library. “When asked by staff how it went, he replied, ‘It was SO much fun!’ He collected nine badges and was thrilled by the bonus challenge. He was stoked about the completion prizes and happy to be visiting us at the Library.”

There have been dozens of events across CHPL this summer, including travelling presenters like Madcap Puppets, Honey Hill Farms, New Leaf Kitchen, The Bug Chicks, and more.

There’s Still Time to Join Summer Reading

There’s still time to sign up. Summer Reading runs through Friday, July 31. Begin your Summer Reading adventure at any of the Library’s 41 locations.

Summer Reading is fun no matter your age. Kids and teens from newborn to twelfth grade can participate. Katy from the Delhi Township Branch Library reports that they even signed up a 6-day old baby: “It’s never too early to start their Library experience.”

Kids and teens receive a Summer Reading challenge sheet, book of their choice to keep, a Cincinnati Reds voucher (while supplies last), and a Camp Badge upon joining. Learn more at chpl.org/summer.

Pick Up a Bonus Challenge

If you’ve already completed a tracker and want to keep going, pick up a bonus 15-Day Challenge at any library location by July 16. Complete it for another prize.

You can also collect Camp Badges! View all available badges at chpl.org/summer
