The Espresso Book Machine (EBM), located in the Main Library's MakerSpace, is a fully integrated high-speed, compact machine that automatically prints, binds and trims—on demand, at point of sale—perfect bound, retail quality paperback books.
What can the EBM make?
The EBM can make a trade paperback book, with trim size, from 5” to 10.5” in height and 4.5” to 8.25” in width. It can hold a page volume of 40 – 700 pages. The EBM prints books and binds them with commercial grade binding glue. The book is then covered in a full-color cover.
Can I publish my own book?

How do I submit an original work to be printed?
Submit your information via our EBM Book Order form (below). Once you have submitted a request, you will be contacted in 48 hours to make an appointment for a consultation. During the consultation, a staff member will assist you with how to set up your file and provide an estimated time for printing.
What is the price?
The price of books made on the EBM varies depending on the set up of each book. If it is an original work, there is a setup fee, a fee for the cover, and a fee for each interior page. If you are printing from the EBM catalog, opens a new window, there is no setup fee--only the cost to print the cover and interior pages. Does the EBM print in color?
EBM can print vibrant color covers, but only uses grayscale for the book interior. Pictures and illustrations will be in greyscale but are crisp and high quality.
