The Cheviot Branch officially opened on May 10, 2025, to the public after an eight-month renovation process. Over 500 community members celebrated its grand reopening. The renovation kept the building's original 1960s Mid-Century Modern exterior while adding innovative next generation library services.

The exterior masonry work is complete. The site work is expected to be complete soon, which includes sidewalks, curbs, paving and landscaping. On the interior, finishes are being completed in anticipation of the shelving and furniture delivery once the temporary certificate of occupancy is received.

Week of February 10, 2025: The electrical work is complete and the restoration of permanent power is in process. Once it is complete, the elevator installation will begin. The roof is being framed on the addition and tied into the existing building. The interior finish work should begin in February and all of the furniture and shelving will be ordered by the end of January. The contracted substantial completion date for construction is mid-April 2025.

Week of January 27, 2025: In August 2024, the Library Board of Trustees approved a GMP inclusive of CMR fee and CMR contingency equal to or less than $3,500,000 with a project budget of $4,950,000.  The actual GMP is $3,308,770 and the overall project budget remains the same at $4,950,000.  The branch closed in early September and construction is underway.

In December 2024, the exterior and the elevator vestibule were under construction. On the interior, all of the demolition work was complete and framing had started.

Week of August 12, 2024: The current branch is expected to close in mid-September 2024, and construction is expected to take six months.

Week of June 10, 2024: Design work is wrapping up and we expect the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) estimate later this year.

Week of April 8, 2024: Project scope development continues with SHP, Turner, and Library staff. Construction is estimated to begin by the end of 2024.

Week of December 15, 2022: Feasibility studies have begun during this project's scope development, with special focus on accessibility improvements to the building.
