The Oakley Branch reopened to the public on Dec. 20.

As announced in at the October Board of Trustees meeting, the updated Oakley Branch is expected to reopen in mid-December.

Week of Aug. 18: The target day for closing the Oakley Branch is late September with the Library's facilities team installing carpet and painting before Turner begins the equipment installation in mid-October. The Oakley Branch is anticipated to be the first of the three branches to open with a target date of mid-December.

Week of June 9: The bidding for the work at the Oakley Branch is expected to be completed at the end of June with an updated GMP to follow.

The Library goes to great lengths to minimize service disruption during the maintenance and renovation of buildings.

We evaluate several factors when making a decision on temporary spaces:

• The project duration exceeds six months
• The building needs to be completely emptied based on the nature of the work
• Proximity to nearby Library services
• Availability of nearby rental opportunities at an affordable rate
• Cost of space compared to transaction cost of moving

Week of February 11, 2025: The scope for the Oakley Branch Scheduled Maintenance & Strategic Investment project has been finalized. We hope to have construction plans over the next few months and will schedule community engagement sessions when the timelines are firm.

The HVAC will be replaced, the lighting will be updated, and the branch will be refreshed with some operational updates
