Discover Summer Is Here! 5 Tips to Kick Off Summer Learning

It’s here! Discover Summer, opens a new window, CHPL’s summer learning program for kids and teens, has plenty of fun-filled adventures, experiences, and even prizes. Follow these five tips to get the most out of summer!

1. Kick-Off Discover Summer with a 2022 To-Go Pack

The Discover Summer To-Go Pack has everything you need: an activity booklet, a free book to keep, and an early literacy calendar, opens a new window for preschool families. The activity booklets for kids age 7 and younger (available in both English, opens a new window and Spanish, opens a new window), elementary schoolers, opens a new window (ages 8-12), and teens, opens a new window (ages 13-18) are full of great ideas to help your kid or teen set their own Discovery Goals – learning topics they’re interested in. (And, yes, there are prizes for completing the Discovery Goals!)

2. Learn Together at Our Branch Libraries

Discover Pokémon lurking in the library, opens a new window, experiment with coding robots, opens a new window, create art with exploding rockets, opens a new window, and more with Discover Summer events across all CHPL neighborhood branches. Check the Discover Summer events calendar, opens a new window often for hundreds of exciting events for kids and teens.

3. Track Your Progress and Earn Prizes on CHPL’s Learning App

Make a habit out of reading this summer (and enter for chances to win a great prize) on our summer learning app, Beanstack, opens a new window. Available on Android, opens a new window, iOS, opens a new window, or any device with a web browser, opens a new window and an internet connection, kids and teens can log the days they spend reading and earn chances to win a four-pack of tickets to Kings Island!

4. Show Off All Summer Long

As your child or teen completes each of their Discovery Goals, they’re invited to stop in their neighborhood branch library to pick up awesome pins or stickers. Our staff will be excited to hear all about their completed goals! And, once they finish all three Discovery Goals, kids and teens can pick up a yard sign or window cling to proudly show off! Along the way, share their progress on social media and tag the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter using #DiscoverSummer. Who knows, maybe you’ll be showcased on our social media accounts. Talk about bragging rights!

5. Keep Your Eyes on the Prize(s!)


Learning is a reward in itself, but it’s even sweeter when it comes with some amazing prizes, opens a new window!
