Discover Summer Starts Now! Sign Up at Any Library Location

Discover Summer has begun! CHPL’s summer learning program for kids and teens is back with new fun-filled adventures, experiences, and ways to earn free prizes.

Until July 31, kids and teens can visit any library location to sign up for Discover Summer for free. Find all the details about this year's program, including events, prizes, resources, and more on our Discover Summer webpage.

How to Join Discover Summer (and Earn Prizes)

Visit any library location to get started! Kids will receive a free book, a voucher to a Cincinnati Reds game (while supplies last), and an activity booklet for their Discover Summer adventure. Teens will receive an embossed journal, a voucher to a Cincinnati Reds game (while supplies last), and a participation guide.

New Experiences for Kids and Teens

This year, kids and teens can create their own adventures to Discover Summer!

Kids (under age 12)

Kids can set three of their own Discovery Goals within their activity booklet. Activity booklets can be picked up at any library location or downloaded from the Discover Summer webpage until July 31, 2023.

Two activity booklets are available, designed for ages 7 and under, and ages 8-13. Activity booklets for ages 7 and under are also available in Spanish.

Kids are invited to check in at the Library each time they complete a Discovery Goal for a chance to win a grand prize. After completing all three of their Discovery Goals, a completion prize will be waiting for them at the Library!

Teens (ages 13-18)

Teens are getting their own journal and challenge to complete over the summer this year! Stop by any library location to pick up a free journal and challenge sheet or download them from the Discover Summer webpage.

Check back in at the library when 5, 10, and all 16 challenges have been completed for chances to win a Grand Prize. After completing all 16 challenges, they will receive a completion prize at any library location.

Bigger and Better (and More!) Prizes

This year, there's more to read and more to win! Aside from the free book and Cincinnati Reds ticket voucher, kids and teens  can win amazing grand prizes! The grand prizes for 2023 include FC Cincinnati tickets, Beats® Flex Wireless Earphones, admission to the Cincinnati Museum Center, and more. New, too, this year are the Discover Summer wonder wheels! Win a prize every day by visiting any library location and spinning the wheel. After completing the prompt, which includes options like "Sing a Song," "Tell a Joke," and "Drop Everything and Read!", kids and teens can receive a small prize. Visit the Library every day this summer until July 31 to collect all the wonder wheel prizes!
