In 2026, the Library will join Hamilton County and communities across the country to celebrate and commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States.
Alongside organizations across the state, the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library (CHPL) will host events and exhibits exploring ways that Ohio has contributed to U.S. history of 250 years.
Upcoming Events
You can find themed America 250 events across our 41 branches! Here are a few events happening in January to start you off!
- Test your smarts at the Miami Township Branchwith Stars, Stripes & Smarts! Starting Jan. 5 and running through Jan. 31, customers can stop in each week of the month to answer trivia questions. You might even win a prize! January’s theme will be Ohio’s Firsts and Originals. Recommended for teens, adults, and seniors.
- On Saturday, Jan. 17 at 2 p.m., kids ages 6-12 can play with items that were created in Cincinnati and Ohio, including Play-Doh, Spirographs, Kenner Toys, and more! Hosted by the Maderia Branch, this event requires registration.
- Celebrate Ohio firsts at theCorryville Branch on Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 4 p.m.Kids can make a fizzy moon craft or paper airplane.
- Mark your calendar for Made in Ohio on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m. This virtual event encourages Ohioans to reflect on their state’s Firsts and Originals. Register. A Zoom link will be provided ahead of the class.
Explore Historical Exhibits Every Month!
The Downtown Main Library will display a themed historical exhibit every month of 2026. While themes are subject to change, here are exhibits to look forward to:

- August: Ohio State Fair
- September: Cincinnati Reds
