Make Borrowing Easier with Linked Accounts

Written by Shawn Farrell, Integrated Library Systems Analyst, Downtown Main Library

The holidays can be a stressful time. Grocery lists, gifts, preparing family recipes, or what not to talk about with visiting relatives – there’s so much to keep track of! Let the Library help you make one thing easier: managing your borrowing with a new Linked Patrons feature when checking out in person.

Some time ago, we introduced themulti-accounts featurein our mobile app. This tool allows users to access account information for family members from their mobile device and easily keep track of checkouts, holds, and other information for all connected accounts. Now, there’s another way to connect accounts!

Do you prefer to review or check on your activity with the help of Library staff? Consider taking advantage of the newly available option to link accounts.

Do you have an Educator Library Card as well as a personal account that you use to borrow items at the same time? Are you a parent who often brings your children to visit us and would like to save some time searching for all of their library cards? Or maybe you need us to quickly confirm the due dates on their current checkouts? Perhaps you pick up holds for your partner or an elderly parent?

Each of these scenarios can be sped up by linking your accounts together, which makes it easier for Library staff to navigate from one related account to another without need for each user’s card. Save yourself some time and head back to the mall for more holiday shopping!

Ask a Library staff member for details on how you can link related accounts today.
