Starting at end-of-day on Friday, Aug. 1, the Mariemont Branch will temporarily close as the location undergoes renovations.
The Details
While the Mariemont Branch is closed, customers can pick up their holds at the Anderson Branch, or another location of their choosing.
The Mariemont Branch project is expected to be completed in late 2025 or early 2026. In the time being, Brach Manager Mandi Beecroft noted that several of their regular book clubs — including the Mariemont Book Club and Mystery Book Club — will still be held, just at other locations.
Mandi said that current staff plan on returning to the Mariemont Branch once the renovations are complete, and they’ll be working at various locations in the meantime.

As a scheduled maintenance project, the Mariemont Branch will see a number of refreshes and upgrades.
“This is a needed renovation. We have an old HVAC unit that needs to be upgraded. Our electric needs to be upgraded,” said Mandi. “This all is going to sustain the branch much further down the road.”
Elements to look forward to include:
- Replacing end of lifecycle 50+ year old mechanical and electrical systems
- New carpet and paint throughout
- New furniture throughout
- Refreshed staff space
- New ceiling tiles and grid with updated LED lighting
- New meeting room
- Dedicated teen area
- Cozy reading area with fireplace
- Updated children's section
- Quiet space for collaboration
Mandi is looking forward to the meeting room, which will not only give additional space for the community to meet, but also allow them to expand their programming.
“We have a lot of kids' programs that we really enjoy doing, but sometimes space is very much a factor in what we can and can’t do,” said Mandi, “so having a dedicated space for that will make all the difference.”
Mandi said that she thinks the renovations will make the branch more accessible to the community’s various needs, including: more quiet space, the meeting room, booth seating, group space, and more!
“This is very much a location that people like to come to and stay at. We really love our customers here,” said Mandi. “I want to assure people that we are going to miss them, too, and we are looking forward to coming back and trying new things when we get a new space and meeting room.”
