Metro’s Updated Fares: What You Need to Know

Metro is launching a new Tap&Save system starting July 16, 2025 to make riding easier. Many of our customers use Metro in traveling across Greater Cincinnati, including to and from our 41 locations.

Here’s everything you need to know about Metro’s updated fare.

Tap&Save Prices

Traditional digital passes will be retired in favor of Tap&Save. All you need is your Transit App or EZfare smart card. Load funds, then tap and scan when you board. Tap&Save automatically deducts the lowest possible fare.

  • $4.40 over 24-hour period or $88 over a 30-day period on local service
  • $6 over a 24-hour period or $120 over a 30-day period on express service

While traditional digital passes will not be available, paper passes will still be available online or at Metro’s sales office. Cash will still be accepted on board.

New Metro Fares

Here are updated full-fare prices, which will also go into effect on July 16:

  • Local service: $2.20 full fare/$1.10 half fare
  • Express service: $3 full fare/$1.50 half fare
  • Fare Deal/MVP sticker: $44
  • MetroNow!: $2.50
  • Access: $4.40
