The poet who penned the famous words on the Statue of Liberty and poems about haunted places and Will-o'the-Wisps is joining the Library's resident warlock in this month's episode of Warlock Vorobok Reads.
Emma Lazarus was born in New York City on July 22, 1849. She began writing poems at 11 and quickly continued to write poems, fantasies, and epics, a novel, and two five-act plays. A portion of her most famous sonnet, "The New Colossus," was written in 1883 and is inscribed on the Statue of Liberty:
