CBAS artists use every trick in their books for 20th anniversary of art exhibit

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Cincinnati Book Arts Society, opens a new window’s annual art exhibition Bookworks. The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County hosts the exhibit in partnership with CBAS through Sept. 1 on the second-floor bridge at the Main Library.

CBAS is a nonprofit organization of professional and amateur hand workers in the book arts. There are two chances to walk through the Bookworks XX exhibit with an artist to learn more about the creative process. Those events are scheduled for 2–4 p.m. for both Sunday, June 2, and Sunday, Aug. 18. No registration is necessary for the artist walk-throughs.

In addition, the Library is displaying select items from its own book art collection in the Keith Kuhn Memorial Exhibit June 4–30 in display cases on the second floor.

The Keith Kuhn Memorial Exhibit is curated in memory of former Library Services Director Keith Kuhn, who was responsible for growing the Library’s special collection of book artworks. He also was a founding member of CBAS. Many of the books in this collection are hand-made by well-known international, national, and local artists.
