State of Ohio ends tax form distribution at Library

The Ohio Department of Taxation is ending its bulk distribution of Ohio Income Tax filing forms to organizations including the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County in order to eliminate paper waste. In a recent analysis, government officials found only 10 percent of printed personal income tax returns end up being filed with the state of Ohio.

Ohio tax forms are available by visiting tax.ohio.gov. Taxpayers can also get a printed copy by calling 1-800-282-1782 or by writing to the Ohio Department of Taxation at P.O. Box 2476, Columbus, OH 43216-2476. A limited number of Income Tax Instruction booklets are going to be available at the Library in January 2017.

The Main Library’s Information & Reference Department is continuing to provide copies of many federal individual tax forms, Indiana state tax forms, and City of Cincinnati forms, either for free distribution or for photocopying. Most tax forms are for individuals only but selected forms are available for corporations, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations.
