The new home for the Deer Park Next Generation Library is now open to welcome, support, and inspire the community, sustaining CHPL's mission to connect people with the world of ideas and information. It is a place that encourages the community to gather, connect with each other and with essential services.

The Deer Park Branch Library was featured in Library Journal's 2022 Year in Architecture, and in news segments like this one from Local 12.

The Library Board of Trustees voted in October 2020 to lease a 25,000-square-foot site in the shopping center at 3900 E. Galbraith Road, a space about five times the size of its current location in the same center.

The new space includes:

  • A transformation of the former T.J. Maxx to become an accessible, inviting, and vibrant information and community hub.
  • A flexible space that adapts to meet the changing needs of the community and anticipates future services, programs, and technologies.
  • An investment in the most immediate community while attracting people from the larger, more diverse northeast region; providing a full range of services from traditional to emerging.
  • Engaging customers with spaces provided for a range of activities including collaborative areas and large program rooms to spaces for exploration and quiet focus.
