Week of August 12, 2024: The interior finishes are in progress and expected to be completed on schedule. The work on the roof is underway and the sitework is expected to be done in September.

The project is tracking for a temporary certificate of occupancy in September and a grand opening in early November.

Week of June 10, 2024: The buildout work is progressing quickly. The interior framing is nearly complete along with electrical, plumbing and HVAC rough in. Roof replacement will start mid-June along with sheetrock and exterior façade work.

Week of April 1, 2024: Construction fencing is up around the new property ahead of work beginning on the interior and exterior of the building.

Week of February 12, 2024: We hosted a well-attended community engagement session on December 14, 2023, at the new location with a variety of community members and leaders, including the Mt. Healthy Mayor, expressing their enthusiasm for our new branch project. We shared the high-level design concept as well as obtained feedback on the front façade which will be added to the existing former CVS façade.

Week of December 11, 2023: The Library hosted a Community Engagement Session at the future Mt. Healthy Branch on Thursday, December 14. Community members attended this drop-in session to discuss the plans for the future Mt. Healthy building with library leadership, representatives from the architecture firm, and your branch library staff.

Week of November 13, 2023: The Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library closed on the purchase of the former CVS building in Mt. Healthy that will be the home of the future Mt. Healthy Branch. The building is located at 7700 Hamilton Ave., less than one block from the branch’s current location. The Library paid $1.975 million for the property and facility.  

The replacement of the Mt. Healthy Branch was identified as a goal in the Library’s Facility Master Plan, with the recommendation to relocate to a different facility for full accessibility. The building is 10,000-square-feet, and will allow for more seating/meeting areas, larger, family friendly restrooms, easier entry, and more parking, which were all amenities that the community requested. 

Week of October 8, 2023:The replacement of the Mt. Healthy Branch is identified as a goal in the FMP and has been a long-time objective of the Library. An opportunity was identified in August 2023 when the nearby CVS closed. Although the property was not on the market, through working with our realtor, we were able to secure a purchase sale agreement with the current owner.

The building is approximately 10,000 square feet and in good condition. Both the roof and the mechanical system are at the end of their lives but the replacement of each will provide the Library with the opportunity to coordinate the interior space. The building does have an existing drive-through. The Library will continue the due diligence process including review of the phase 1 and phase 2 reports.

Week of August 7, 2023: The Library, in consultation with our realtor, has been in discussion with the owner of the current CVS store building on Hamilton Avenue in Mt. Healthy. The replacement of this branch is noted in the FMP implementation schedule. If the Library is successful in securing the property, we expect to immediately begin working with SHP (under the existing task order arrangement) to design the space with the intent of quickly moving to a GMP with Turner under their existing agreement.
