About the
Forest Park Branch
Throughout the 1960s, Forest Park was a rapidly growing suburban area in Hamilton County. The Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library recognized this emerging community and dedicated what was then known as the Parkdale Branch Library at 655 Waycross Road on September 14, 1969. At the time it was the largest suburban library in the county.
In 1970, the branch received the American Institute of Architects' Design Award and its fountain, designed by artist Robert Youngman, was recognized for "an outstanding use of decorative architectural concrete."
In 2001, the Parkdale Branch was renamed Forest Park Branch Library to better reflect the community it serves.

Guided by the Library's Facility Master Plan, as well as two community listening sessions and feedback from emails, phone calls, and surveys, a new Next Generation Library building to serve not only Forest Park but the surrounding neighborhoods is planned to open in 2024.
The new location was previously an office park in a residential area and is currently owned by the City of Forest Park. The site will be located near the post office as well as several restaurants and businesses. There is public transportation to the new location.
When complete, it will be one of CHPL’s largest library branches with over 25,000 square feet, complete with a spacious courtyard, ample parking, MakerSpace equipment, a drive-thru, and community and study rooms.
The current library location is planned to be taken over by the City of Forest Park.
