The Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library’s Winter Checkout Challenge is the one thing from last year we bet you’re happy is back. Starting now, win prizes just by staying in and checking out all our library has to offer through Feb. 25. And you get a free tote bag just for signing up.
It’s simple: Log activities and books you read with your library card for a chance to win grand-prize packages, opens a new window as well as weekly social media giveaways. Anyone age 18 and older can get started by picking up a tracking card, opens a new window from the library, printing one, or logging your activities online using our tracking app. Make sure you’re following @cincylibrary on Facebook, opens a new window, Instagram, and Twitter, opens a new window for flash challenges with more prizes.
The Winter Checkout Challenge webpage, opens a new window is the base where aspiring Checkout champions can find information to complete this year’s challenge with plenty of time to spare. Get everything you need including a sneak peek at this year’s prizes, instructions on how to get a CHPL library card, hand-picked material lists by Library staff, and more details on this year’s Winter Checkout Challenge (#StayInCheckOut) activities such as:
- Check out a book recommended by CHPL staff
- Attend a virtual event
- Read a winter-themed book, eBook, or magazine
- Stream a video on Hoopla or check out a movie
- Visit a CHPL branch you’ve never been to before
- Follow @cincylibrary on social media
- Practice a mindfulness activity
- Check out a book about/by an Indigenous person
- Download the CHPL app
- Check out five items in one visit

Mark your calendars now to celebrate with CHPL customers and staff at the Winter Check Challenge closing party from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, at West Side Brewing. Join in the celebration, take part in trivia, and hear the grand-prize winners announced.
