In this podcast episode, the Library’s 2025 Writer-in-Residence Mary Kay Carson speaks with Carrie McCullough, the Ohio Central & South regional advisor for the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).   

“If you’re serious about writing for children, SCBWI is the place to be,” Carrie said in the podcast. The organization, which gives access to conferences, webinars, print materials, and more, has multiple membership options available.

Publishing 101 with Vicky Weber of Creative Media Agency, on July 16 from 7-8:30 p.m., is a virtual session hosted by SCBWI designed to give new children’s book writers the clarity and confidence to take the next step. The webinar also includes the opportunity to submit one manuscript for agent consideration. 

The cost is $20 for members and $30 for non-members. 

Where Stories Take Flight
