The Downtown Main Library’s MakerSpace will mark a milestone next year: Turning 10! To celebrate, it’s getting a refresh complete with upgraded equipment, new carpet, fresh paint, and updated furniture. To accommodate the improvements, the MakerSpace will close on Jan. 26, 2026, and reopen on Feb. 2, 2026.
Since launching, the MakerSpace has become one of the Library’s most popular service areas. It provides access to valuable equipment, knowledgeable staff ready to assist customers, and tools that bring creative ideas to fruition. This refresh will allow MakerSpace users to continue that mission in a modern, functional space bent on creativity and learning.
In 2025 alone, there have been 15,423 MakerSpace sessions at the Downtown Main Library — a 7% increase from last year. We can’t wait to welcome new and returning customers alike to a refreshed MakerSpace in the new year!
Elements to Look Forward to:
- Upgraded and new equipment
- New carpet throughout
- Fresh paint
- Updated furniture
Updated MakerSpace Pricing
Upon reopening, new pricing for MakerSpace supplies will go into effect. The MakerSpace will remain free to use. These changes reflect increased supply costs due to inflation. See additional details on the Price List page.
