Meet the Trucks in Person
Every day, thousands of library materials travel between CHPL locations. A book returned in one branch may be headed to another before its next checkout. A hold placed online may make a journey across Hamilton County before it reaches the shelf where you pick it up.
Behind every hold is a network of staff, sorting equipment, and delivery vehicles working together to connect customers with the materials they want and need.
Whether you're picking up a bestselling novel, a children's book, a movie, or your next great discovery, there's a good chance one of these trucks helped get it there.
That's one of the ways The Library Is How materials move across our communities.
Want to see one of CHPL's delivery trucks up close?
As part of Customer Appreciation Month, several branches will host special Touch-a-Truck experiences where customers can:
- See a delivery truck up close
- Meet one of our drivers
- Learn how materials move throughout the library system
- Celebrate the newly named trucks that serve their region
Upcoming Touch-a-Truck Events
- Mid-City Region (Bookie Monster): Friday, Sept. 11 from 2-5 p.m. at the North Central Branch Library
- Central region (Story Runner): Tuesday, Sept. 15th from 5-7 pm at the Bond Hill Branch Library
- East Region (Big Read Machine): Saturday, Sept. 19 from 10-2 p.m. at the Symmes Township Branch Library
- West Region (Checkout Chariot): Saturday, Sept. 26 from 1-3 p.m. at the Groesbeck Branch Library
The Outreach vehicle will not be participating in a Touch-a-Truck event because it's busy traveling throughout the community.
The next time you place a hold, keep an eye out. Your book might just arrive aboard the Big Read Machine, Checkout Chariot, Story Runner, It's a Hardback Life, or Bookie Monster.
