The holidays are right around the corner. For many students – and their parents – all that’s standing in the way of family get-togethers and fall festivals are end-of-quarter assignments and exams. Luckily Homework Helpers are ready to assist students in kindergarten through eighth grade make it through with flying colors.
Going Beyond the Basics
The Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library provides free Homework Helpers at select library locations to aid students with a variety of subjects. From math problems, book reports, presentations, and more, these solving superheroes can guide students through even the most difficult problems.
"Doing homework with Ms. Aly is better than doing it on my own because she can help me step by step until I get it right. I also love reading books with Ms. Aly," said a student at the West End Branch.

Studying After Hours
Students who are stumped by their assignments and need help during evenings or weekends can access BrainFuse—HelpNow, available with a library card. Providing students and parents with writing assistance, flash cards, live tutoring from 2-11 p.m., virtual study rooms, and more, this online program is available online 24/7 for cardholders.
Helpers aren’t just available during the school year. During school breaks and over the summer, they offer mentoring to those in need of extra support, including additional “Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art and Math” (STREAM) activities.
Coming Soon to a Branch Near You
Since 2010, Homework Helpers have been available to CHPL customers. It started with a handful of branches and expanded to 25 branches serving nearly 9,000 students before the COVID-19 pandemic began. The Library plans to build the service back up to 26 branches for the 2022-23 school year with the support of the Marge & Charles J. Schott Foundation, The Library Foundation, and other generous donors and foundations.
