It’s easy to think of libraries as places and things: buildings, shelves, books, computers, CDs, DVDs – but the truth is, libraries are so much more.
For most of us, libraries were among the first places where we connected to ideas bigger than ourselves. Through the generous support of donors like you, The Library Foundation creates more opportunities for everyone to connect with a bigger world of ideas and information.
In the past year alone, the Foundation has committed more than $1,454,727 to the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library for youth to have access to:
- Free Homework Help
- Programs and supports for a fun summer of learning
- MakerSpace equipment at the newly reopened Madisonville Branch Library
- and much more!

The 2023 Cincinnati Gives Challenge
In honor of Giving Tuesday, The Library Foundation is joining other local causes in a friendly fund-raising competition to raise the most money.
The nonprofit that raises the most funds during the challenge period is awarded a cash prize on top of the money they've already collected, thanks to Cincinnati Magazine.

Investing in Our Library Community
Contributions to The Library Foundation extend and enhance the public funds our Library receives for its operations. We work with our Library to identify areas of need where our funding can best be used to support our community. Examples of what the Foundation and donors like you support are:
- Discover Summer (the annual literacy-based summer learning program for youth)
- MakerSpace equipment at the reopened Madisonville Branch Library
- The annual Writer-in-Residence
- The Homework Help program
- The Mary S. Stern Lecture Series
