CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library will bring two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and best-selling author Nicholas Kristof to Cincinnati for the Mary S. Stern Lecture on Sept. 30 at the Aronoff Center for the Arts. The lecture is designed to bring top thought leaders to the area and make them accessible to our community through affordable ticket pricing.
Kristof will delve into his acclaimed, bestselling book, Chasing Hope: A Reporter's Life, offering the audience a profound and captivating memoir that chronicles his experiences in journalism. Through his discussion, Kristof will provide insight behind the scenes as he boldly tackles the world’s most pressing issues, illuminating a path toward a more hopeful future.

ABOUT NICHOLAS KRISTOF
Kristof is a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and best-selling author. In 1990, he and his wife, Sheryl WuDunn, became the first husband-wife duo to win a Pulitzer while at The New York Times, with Kristof winning again in 2006. They have co-authored five best-selling books, and Kristof wrote Tightrope: Americans Reaching for Hope (2020) and his memoir, Chasing Hope: A Reporter’s Life. Since 1984, he has reported on major political events and interviewed figures like President Obama and Ahmadinejad, earning numerous awards, including the Dayton Literary Peace Prize, and serving on the boards of Harvard University and the Association of American Rhodes Scholars. Dubbed as the “reporter’s reporter”, Kristoff’s journalism serves as a powerful catalyst for championing human rights, giving a voice to the voiceless.
ABOUT THE MARY S. STERN LECTURE
The late Mary S. Stern endowed an annual lecture series for the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library through The Library Foundation to support bringing internationally renowned thought leaders to our community. The Stern Lecture selection committee (Tony Covatta, Vicky and Rick Reynolds, Betsy Sittenfeld, and Sandy and Peter Stern) was formed in 2018 to select and invite lecturers who can honor Stern’s legacy by advancing the Library’s mission to connect our community with a world of ideas and information. The committee is committed to making the topic and speaker accessible to the community physically and financially.
