The Price Hill Branch is temporarily relocating to the Price Hill Recreation Center beginning Monday, July 16. The Cincinnati Recreation Commission generously created space in their facility at 959 Hawthorne Ave. for the library to use through Aug. 31.
The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County made the difficult decision to temporarily close the Price Hill Branch Library at 3215 Warsaw Ave. July 3 due to significant damage to the ceiling. Facility and maintenance workers continue to assess the damage and there is no timeline yet for repairs.
“The Cincinnati Recreation Commission was happy that we were able to come to the aid of the Public Library’s branch in Price Hill,” said Recreation Director Daniel Betts. “We’re both here to enhance the lives of the citizens of Price Hill and that’s what neighbors do."
The temporary location is being staffed by library employees during all Recreation Center open hours, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.–9 p.m. The library continues to offer storytimes and craft events for kids and teens in this temporary space. Customer holds and returns are at the temporary location inside the CRC during this time; however, the temporary book return installed at the Price Hill Branch has remained for customers who wish to return books after hours or on weekends. The temporary location also offers Hamilton County Job & Family Services faxing and afternoon snacks. Summer Tutoring sessions remain at the Covedale Branch Library.
“We are grateful to our friends at the CRC for the generous offer of this space,” said interim Eva Jane Romaine Coombe Director of the Library Paula Brehm-Heeger, . “We are eager to reconnect with the Price Hill community and resume service to them as soon as possible.”
Updates on repairs will be posted to CincinnatiLibrary.org as soon as information is available. Customers can also call the Virtual Information Center for more information at 513-369-6900.
