GREEN TOWNSHIP — After a nearly four-month closure, the Library Branch here will reopen Saturday with a festive community celebration.
Community members and people all across the area are invited for face painting, balloon art, a “shelfie” station and a seasonally-appropriate hot chocolate bar, and a renovated space tour. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will proceed the festivities at 10 a.m., including Library and community leaders.
The nearly $700,000 Branch refresh made the space fully accessible – including the restrooms – new flooring and paint, new seating, an updated community meeting room with a new kitchenette, an expanded children’s play area, a new teen area, relocated quiet study area, more computers and charging stations. The Branch’s genealogy materials have been expanded, along with the “Find My Past” computer, rounds out the upgrades to the facility.
The Branch, opening in January 1990, and its unique architecture – a copper central dome with two smaller domed structures – were designed to reflect the silos and barns once dotting the horse farms in Green Township.
