The blue manatee press is being given the Cooper Award during Ohioana 2018, a special event that honors Hamilton County authors. It’s sponsored by the Ohioana Library Association and presented by the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County.
The annual event starts at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 8, at the Main Library in the Huenefeld Tower Room. Readers will have the chance to meet and talk with Hamilton County authors, most of whom have published books within the past year. This year’s attendees include the Library Foundation’s Writer-in-Residence Emma Carlson Berne, David Pepper, Jan Sherbin and Jessica Strawser.
Dr. John Hutton will accept Ohioana 2018’s Cooper Award on behalf of the blue manatee press and speak at the event. The Cooper Award was created in 2003 and named for the founding family of Ohioana. It is given to an individual or organization who has made outstanding contributions to the promotion of books and reading in Hamilton County. Past winners include Loren Long, Will Hillenbrand, the Mercantile Library of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Public Radio.
The Ohioana event is free and open to the public. The Main Library is located at 800 Vine St. in downtown Cincinnati. Call 513-369-6900 for more information.
