Rock rivals to remember FM radio battles at the Library

Who: Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County and Media Heritage

What: Remembering Radio’s Rock Rivalries

Where: Main Library, 800 Vine St., Downtown Cincinnati in the Reading Garden Lounge on the first floor of the South building.

When: Sunday, Jan. 28, 2 p.m.

Join fellow FM radio fans to celebrate Cincinnati’s FM radio wars of the 1970s and early ‘80s.  Maybe you were a loyal fan or casual listener of WEBN’s Frog, Q102’s “Zoo,” 94.1 WSAI and 96 Rock. The 1970s changed the face of the radio dial as rock and roll made FM king of the airwaves. Join us for a panel discussion featuring some of the on-air talents of the day, including Eddie Fingers, Pat Barry, Jay Gilbert and Kevin “Doc” Wolfe. There is no registration required.

This event is held in conjunction with the Library’s Living on the Air in Cincinnati exhibit, featuring items from the Media Heritage collection. The exhibit contains photographs and original artifacts from local shows and stations. The exhibit will be on display throughout the Main Library, including in the Atrium and the Joseph S. Stern, Jr. Cincinnati Room until Jan. 31.
