Second phase of ‘Our Cincinnati’ to focus on civil rights

Hamilton County residents are invited to share personal stories for inclusion in the second phase of Our Cincinnati, Then and Now: The Continuing Story of Civil Rights. The struggle to transform the powerful promise of civil rights into everyday reality is real and ongoing. This phase of the project aims to help celebrate the progress, share the sacrifices and acknowledge the work that remains to uphold civil rights in our communities.

Those interested in sharing their civil rights stories are encouraged to fill out an application. The Library will conduct a select number of video interviews over the next several months.

Completed applications can be dropped off at any Library location or e-mailed to Carrie.Hughes@Cincinnatilibrary.org. Due to time and budget restraints, not all applicants may be interviewed for this project.

About Our Cincinnati

Our Cincinnati is a digital celebration of neighborhoods throughout Hamilton County. The first phase of the project included residents bringing in paper-based memorabilia for inclusion in a digital archive. The second phase, Then and Now: the Continuing Story of Civil Rights, includes an oral history portion and the third phase will include a written portion which will culminate in a book of select contributions from the community in late 2017.
