St. Bernard Elementary School principal appointed to Public Library Board of Trustees

At the Nov. 1 Hamilton County Commissioner’s meeting, the commissioners appointed Karen Clemons to the Board of Trustees for the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County for a seven-year term.

A graduate of Roger Bacon High School, Clemons received a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, Elementary Education and Teaching from Lane College and earned two Master of Education degrees from Antioch University McGregor. A resident of Monfort Heights, she spent four years working as a kindergarten and first-grade teacher at Mt. Healthy Schools before moving to St. Bernard Elementary School, where she currently serves as principal. Clemons also volunteers for her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha.

“This appointment will allow me to be of service to my community,” said Clemons. “I look forward to encouraging children to see the importance of using their neighborhood library.”

Clemons' first board meeting is Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the Main Library.
