This summer, the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County is giving students the opportunity to remain engaged academically and also have fun during Brain Camps. These camps are available as part of the Library’s Summer Learning Program and feature a focus on Maker and STEAM topics. Brain camps are free, fun, and available at the Main Library and select branches through the generous support of Duke Energy. Registration begins today, May 2, for week-long Brain Camps and May 23 for one-day Brain Camps. Group size is limited for individual attention so register early.
Week-Long Brain Camps at the Main Library
Free, week-long Brain Camps are held at the Main Library, 800 Vine St., 1-4 p.m., Monday through Friday, in the William Hueneke Homework Center. Campers can enjoy books, group lessons, computer activities, outdoor play, and creating crafts in the MakerSpace. Afterward, kids are invited to the Homework Center from 4–6 p.m. for individual reading and math skill-building assistance.

June 27–July 1: La bella Italia (Grades 3–5)
July 11–15: Listen to Your Art (Grades 1–5)

July 25–29: Route 66 (Grades 3–5)
Aug. 1–5: Olympic Games (Grades 1–5)

Free, week-long Brain Camps are available at select Library branches. Activities include stories, games, science experiments and themed crafts. Themes vary by branch. Camps are for students in grades 1–5 and run Monday through Friday in the afternoons (exact times vary by branch).

June 20–24: College Hill, North Central, and Oakley branches
June 27–July 1: Madisonville, Northside, and Sharonville branches
July 5–8: Blue Ash, Reading, and St. Bernard branches
July 11–15: Avondale, Corryville, and Walnut Hills branches
July 18–22: Covedale, Groesbeck, and West End branches
July 25–29: Norwood, Pleasant Ridge, and Price Hill branches
Aug. 1–5: Bond Hill, Clifton, and Westwood branches
One-day mini Brain Camps at branches
Free, one-day Brain Camps are being held at 15 select branches for students in grades 1–4. There Is an A in STEAM is this year’s theme. The participating branches are Anderson, Deer Park, Delhi Township, Elmwood, Greenhills, Harrison, Hyde Park, Loveland, Madeira, Mariemont, Miami Township, Mt. Healthy, Mt. Washington, Symmes Township, and Wyoming. Check for details in mid-May at chpl.org. Registration opens May 23.
