It’s official. The Library’s Winter Checkout Challenge, opens a new window is in full swing in Cincinnati and Hamilton County. Thousands of customers have already signed up for the challenge, received their free tote bags, and emerged as Winter Checkout Challenge champions, worthy of submitting their names for a chance to win some fantastic grand prizes.
But it’s not too late for you to join the action! With the challenge ending Feb. 25, there’s still time to win prizes doing something you love, using the Library.
How to Complete the CHPL Winter Checkout Challenge
The first step of the challenge is easy. Sign up for the challenge online, opens a new window or by visiting one of our 41 library locations, opens a new window. You’ll receive an entry form with all the details on how to complete the challenge and be in the running for grand prizes, opens a new window worth celebrating, such as a Cozy Reading Kit and a Self-Care Wellness Kit.
Once you’re signed up, the real fun begins! To complete the challenge, you must complete five of the 2022 Challenge Activities, opens a new window. Not sure where to start? Here’s a rundown on some ways to become a Winter Checkout Challenge champion.
Visit a CHPL Branch You’ve Never Visited
With 41 library locations spread across Hamilton County, visit a library location close to home or work. Or make a trip to visit some of our locations that were recently upgraded as part of our Building the Next Generation Library project like the Deer Park, opens a new window, Price Hill, opens a new window, and Anderson, opens a new window branch libraries.
Attend a Library Event
The Library is for new experiences. More than 100 library events, opens a new window are happening through the rest of the challenge, both in-person and virtually, sure to inspire and delight!
- African American Read-In with Author Debbie Rigaud, opens a new window: Saturday, Feb. 19, 1-2:30 p.m. at the Groesbeck Branch Library
- MakerSpace & Take, opens a new window: Monday, Feb. 21, 6-7 p.m. at the Loveland Branch Library
- Black History of Glendale Discussion Series, opens a new window: Monday, Feb. 21,6-7:45 p.m. at the Forest Park Branch Library
- Food Business Start Up!, opens a new window: Tuesday, Feb. 22, 6-7:30 p.m. at the Avondale Branch Library
Listen to an Audiobook
Take the Library with you wherever you go by borrowing an audiobook, opens a new window using your library card. Listen to the latest fiction and non-fiction titles, or find something new through audiobooks selected by library staff, opens a new window. There are thousands of audiobooks available to stream, download to your device, or listen to on CD.
Check Out a Book Recommended by CHPL Staff
Let the Library pick out your next great read. Get into the mindset of a champion with Winter Olympian’s Memoirs, opens a new window, or head straight to top reads with the top ten books published this month, opens a new window that library staff across the country love. Bundle up with this list of thrillers, opens a new window that are shivery in more ways than one or find something that’s perfect for you in the over 500 lists, opens a new window created by CHPL staff.
Collecting Your Checkout Champion Prize!
Once you’ve finished at least five of the 2022 Challenge activities, all that’s left is to soak up the glory! Stop by any library location to pick up a completion prize and be entered to win a grand prize package!
