Warm Up at the Library and at Home with a Free Weatherization Kit

Written by Joe Armstrong, Content Specialist, Marketing, Downtown Main Library

Anyone in Cincinnati and Hamilton County agrees: you've got to prepare for anything when living in Ohio weather, including the recent record-setting 39-degree drop, opens a new window from 44 degrees to a frigid five degrees in just six hours.

To help you prepare for everything this wacky Ohio weather brings, we’ve partnered with Duke Energy starting Saturday, Jan. 7 to distribute over 650 Home Weatherization Kits for free at seven Neighborhood Branch Libraries and the Downtown Main Library.

Staying Warm (and Saving Money)

These free kits provided by Duke Energy are designed to help you insulate your home, save energy, and better manage your energy costs.

Each kit includes:

  • Two self-adhesive door sweeps (stops door drafts)
  • Two 17-inch foam roll weatherstripping for windows or doors
  • One deluxe window kit
  • Two LED nightlights

How to Pick Up Your Free Home Weatherization Kit

Visit one of eight library locations listed below starting Saturday, Jan. 7, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. to receive a free Duke Energy Home Weatherization Kit. Distribution will be on a first come, first-served while supplies last and is limited to one kit per household.
