Today is National Library Workers Day, a time we recognize staff across the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library for their dedication to connecting people with the world of ideas and information. To start the celebration, we're sharing some of the library love customers shared with us and highlighting some of the library workers who keep CHPL a place for minds of all kinds.

Spending a Day with a Library Worker
When people hear the word “library” a few things typically come to mind, namely librarians and books. But a library is run by people working in many different roles. They’re all helping community members with much more than book recommendations. Here are just a few of the Library Workers from our series Spend a Day with a Library Worker, opens a new window we are celebrating on National Library Workers Day:
Library Customer Adviser Darlene Ertel
“The customers here are why I love my job. I’m able to help people find what they’re looking for to solve their problems. I love meeting new customers and have treasured the connections I’ve made with customers who have been coming in regularly for years.” Read more, opens a new window.
Facilities Maintenance Supervisor Ronnie Ross
"The thing I like about my job the most is being able to provide a safe enjoyable place for our customers and staff to work and learn. Also, working with my team makes the job very enjoyable. My team works really hard, and we accomplish A LOT!" Read more, opens a new window.
Civic Engagement Coordinator David Siders
“The most rewarding part of my job is helping people from all backgrounds, viewpoints, and neighborhoods to ensure equity of access to Library resources, materials, and community resources. As well as to help improve individual and family well-being, to support lifelong learning, to help break down barriers to resources, and to help bridge the Digital Divide.” Read more, opens a new window.
Public Safety Specialist Steve Causey
“One of the best parts of my job is the chance to meet a lot of people and have the opportunity to make an impact. The Library is for everybody, not just one individual. We all come here to take advantage of the benefits the library offers.” Read more, opens a new window.
Shipping & Receiving Delivery Driver Will Pryor
“Since the pandemic began, distributing COVID test kits has been the most rewarding part of my job. It’s helping a lot of people. These kits can help people know where they stand so we can prevent another big outbreak. This could be what saves a life.” Read more, opens a new window.
