From now until April 4, you can immerse yourself in the history and cultures of the Maya peoples. The Cincinnati Museum Center (CMC) brings you up and close and personal with a civilization of astronomers, mathematicians, inventors, and gods in Maya: The Exhibition. You can visit in person or take a virtual tour.
“What’s remarkable about the Maya is they’re often imbued with this mystique and this perception as a lost civilization but in reality, the Maya people exist and thrive today throughout Central, South, and North America,” said Cody Hefner, Sr. Director of Marketing & Communications at the CMC. “In addition to showcasing the art and architecture, beliefs and mythology, politics and power dynamics of the Maya through over 300 artifacts, Maya: The Exhibition shows the many ways they influence our current society and extends the Maya timeline to modern-day.”

Ongoing Partnership
The CMC and CHPL are partners on an exciting new project to help bridge the digital divide in our community. The CMC and CHPL have been awarded a federal grant from the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to “...increase digital access and proficiency, reach pre-K through fifth-grade students, and engage seniors to lessen social isolation.” Look for even more connections this year among the CMC, the Library, schools, and community organizations!
“One of the primary missions of the Library is that all community members have equity in their access to digital resources and materials, including computers or laptops, WiFi access, and the trained staff to help show them how to use the technology,” says Paula Brehm-Heeger, the Eva Jane Romaine Coombe Library Director. “Working with Cincinnati Museum Center and neighborhood partners, we will advance digital inclusion in the community.”
Don’t forget – you can check out a Library Discovery Pass to enjoy all the Cincinnati Museum Center’s standard admission has to offer. Note that special exhibits, like Maya: The Exhibition are not included with the Discovery Pass.
