Thank you for supporting the Library, Hamilton County voters!
Tuesday, voters approved, with 56.5% support, the 10-year, 1.5 mill levy that the bipartisan Board of Trustees of the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library (CHPL) unanimously voted to place on the November 2023 ballot in Hamilton County.
Eva Jane Romaine Coombe Director Paula Brehm-Heeger said, “I appreciate the thoughtful consideration of our voters. We provide fantastic service, of that I am confident, to all of our Hamilton County community – we offer one of the largest footprints of public, accessible space for all ages in the county. I know our voters share an appreciation for the gem they have in our CHPL and all our wonderful staff!”
About the Levy
The funding from the levy that voters approved will allow the Library to continue to provide a high-quality experience to all Hamilton County residents. Having operated for 170 years, CHPL is committed to ensuring excellent services and spaces for current and future generations.
"The Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library has proven to be an excellent steward of taxpayer funds, receiving multiple statewide recognitions over the past years. With this track record of fiscal transparency and accountability, CHPL is committed to maintaining the high-quality experience our customers expect," said Ret. Judge Nadine L. Allen, President of the Library Board of Trustees.
"We're grateful for the support from Hamilton County residents. Local funding is key to continue providing excellent library services and resources to all ages, including services increasing in popularity such as digital materials and online learning services," Allen added.
The CHPL levy on the November 7 ballot was a renewal of an existing 10-year, 1 mill levy that has long-supported the public library, along with an increase of 0.5-mill. This proposed 1.5 mill levy amounts to a total for this levy of $3.58 per month (or $43 per year) per $100,000 of property value.
