At the Oct. 28, 2015, Hamilton County Commissioners' meeting, the Commissioners appointed Monica Donath Kohnen to the Board of Trustees for the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County for a seven-year term. Kohnen was officially sworn in as a Trustee earlier today at a meeting of the Board of Trustees.
A graduate of Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Kohnen received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. A partner at the law firm of Graydon Head & Ritchey LLP, she practices in the areas of business, real estate, construction, and banking law.
“I am very proud of the Library and the excellent service it provides to Hamilton County residents,” said Kohnen. “As a Board member, I hope my background will allow me to contribute to strategic and business decisions for the Library’s continued success.”
Kohnen is recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America 2007-2015 for her work in Banking & Finance, Corporate and Real Estate law, and is consistently recognized as an Ohio Super Lawyer and a Cincinnati Leading Lawyer. She is also recognized with an AV Preeminent Rating, the highest rating given to lawyers by Martindale-Hubbell, and the Ohio State Bar Association recognizes Kohnen as a Certified Specialist in Business, Commercial, and Industrial Real Property Law.
Kohnen currently holds leadership roles on the Boards of the Cincinnati Sight Restoration Foundation, Inc. and The Junior League of Cincinnati and as a Member of the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center Planned Giving Committee. Kohnen has previously served on the Boards of Downtown Cincinnati Inc., the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, Ursuline Academy, and the Hamilton County Board of Building Standards. She is a resident of Hyde Park.
