As we celebrate this season of gratitude, the entire Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library staff is taking the time to say thank you to all our customers and reflect on the past year. Here are some of the warm messages from across the Library.
"I'm thankful for our talented staff and supportive, engaged community."
Paula Brehm-Heeger, Eva Jane Romaine Coombe Director
“I am thankful for all of the support the community has shown for the new Forest Park Branch. We are busier than ever! Plus, the feeling you sense in the new space is magical - it's a place of discovery, connection, and engagement.”
Shaun, Senior Branch Manager, Forest Park Branch Library
“I am thankful for my family, friends, and coworkers. I am also grateful to be a designer for the Library.”
Jen, Graphics Designer, Main Library
“I’m thankful that within my role I get to visit the branches. I love seeing how each one reflects the community it serves.”
Erin, Visual Merchandiser, Main Library
“Grateful, grateful, grateful!!! I am so grateful for the relationships that I have been able to form as a member of the CHPL staff. I have the wonderful pleasure of being able to work for one of the best organizations in the region. A place where all members of our community have equal access to unlimited resources of all kinds. I appreciate the fact that I get the privilege of bringing smiles to faces, while helping people of all ages and backgrounds receive life-enrichening services, in beautiful spaces. I give thanks daily for my faith, my family, and my friends. I hope to see your smiling face one day soon!”
Kelwin (aka Mr. Kiwi), Library Customer Specialist, Mt. Healthy Branch Library
“I am thankful for the kindness that the community shows us each and every day.”
Molly, Youth Librarian, Walnut Hills Branch Library
"I am thankful for my team and the wonderful partnerships that we are creating, maintaining and growing for the benefit of our community and staff."
Michelle, DEI & Engagement Director
“I am thankful for my team here on 2 South at the Downtown Main Library. When I first started working at CHPL, I had just moved here from a place I had lived for most of my life. I left my parents, best friends, and an incredible group of colleagues behind, and it was scary to start somewhere completely new. But then I met my Genealogy and Local History team, and found what felt like a place here that had been waiting just for me. My coworkers bring immense joy, laughter, support, and growth into my life, and I know that I am lucky to work with them. So, thank you, 2 South; you make my world brighter.”
Tessa, Reference Librarian – Grants, Main Library
"I am thankful for my loved ones, and that I have the wonderful opportunity to make a difference working at the Library by doing what I love!"
Erika, Library Customer Adviser, Walnut Hills Branch Library
“I am thankful for my health, for my long relationship with the Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library and for the successes within 2024. In particular for the success of Genealogy and Local History's Open House, held on Saturday, October 26 and attended by 61 guests. More recently I am very thankful to have hosted a Ruth Lyons program that received rave reviews by all in attendance. Ms. Lyons was a Cincinnati and a national treasure who gave birth to talk radio and talk TV. The first in the field to do so and a woman attempting and succeeding at such an adventure in 1934 is worthy of praise and respect. The Ruth Lyons Children's Fund is her lasting legacy and that was begun in 1939. Thank you to all that have assisted with said events, they could not have been done without the kind and talented people that make up Genealogy and Research Services on 2 South.”
Chris, Reference Librarian, Main Library
“Every day that I work in the Library is a reminder that I have so much to be grateful for. Every day is a learning experience – I learn from my co-workers and from my customers. Having worked for a number of years in retail and restaurants, I can tell you that nothing compares to the amazing environment of a library. I am grateful for my wonderful co-workers, and the close-knit community we serve in Mt. Washington. It really is a constantly rewarding job, and along with my faith, family and my health, are among the things that I am most thankful for.”
Paul, Branch Manager, Mt. Washington Branch Library
“I'm thankful for the Library as a space that exists to support and welcome people in all walks of life and makes access to knowledge, information, and experiences affordable for all.”
Stella, Library Customer Adviser, Main Library
“I am grateful to work for an organization that is dedicated to providing reliable information to its public; for the compassion, patience, and kindness my co-workers show our customers on the daily; and for the public who voted yet again to support our library with a levy.”
Tricia, Library Customer Specialist, Price Hill Branch Library

Beth, Library Customer Specialist, Mt. Washington Branch Library
“I am so thankful for my amazing coworkers, the gift of books, music, and movies I can check out each day, and the customers we get that make life entertaining. CHPL is wonderful!”

We’re Thankful for Our Customers and Communities
“I am thankful for the Hamilton County voters who passed the library levy. In this time of great inflation, when just groceries costs so much more, Cincinnati and Hamilton County residents need their library more than ever. Thank you for giving your votes.”
Susan, Library Customer Adviser, Sharonville Branch Library
“I am so thankful for the community of Pleasant Ridge. Our customers that come in are always so kind and appreciative of all we do. I, specifically, am grateful for the families, grannies, grandpas, parents, nannies and all the sweet kiddos that come to my storytimes. It is such a joy watching those kids grow. They all know how to make a librarian feel appreciated!”
Ashley, Youth Librarian, Pleasant Ridge Branch Library
“I am so thankful for the staff at West End, for their resilience and humor. They keep my days bright and provide so much for the community!
I am also thankful for all of the incredibly dedicated pre-school teachers and daycare providers in our neighborhood for all the ways that they bring literacy into their classrooms and centers. Also thankful for all of the el-hi teachers as well!
I'm thankful for ProjectArt, opens a new window and that we were one of the libraries chosen to expand their program into Cincinnati. Lindsey (our teaching artist last year) was so incredibly flexible with our unusual space requirements and brought a completely unique sparkle to classes with the kids. Morgan (our current teaching artist) is really digging in to find the students' interests to allow them to grow in their artistry.
Lastly, I'm thankful for library kids, who come to us with their dreams, their problems, their school projects, their creativity (read: messes!), and their opinions (even when they're wrong, kid who hates reading!!!)”
Jill, Children’s Librarian, West End Branch Library
