Photography/Video Station

Two branches have a photography/video area: the Downtown Main Library and the Forest Park Branch. Read more below.

Features at the Downtown Main Library MakerSpace

Take clean, professional photos of your products before uploading the photos to your website, eBay, or Etsy. With the help of the green screen in the Downtown Main Library's video and photography area, you can put your product (or yourself) in the action as well!

Any decent camera can be used, including cell phones, but a higher quality camera will yield better results. After shooting photos, you can also used Adobe Suite software like Photoshop!

Equipment: SureLab D1070 Professional Minilab Printer, green screen with box lights and interchangeable backdrops, and a light box.

Software: PC in photography area with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro installed for video and photo editing. Digital Creation Stations have full Adobe Suite, including Audition, Premiere, and Windows Movie Maker.

Features at the Forest Park MakerSpace

  • Epson All in One ET-8550 printer
  • This branch's MakerSpace does not include DSLR cameras, a green screen, or studio lights

What You’ll Need

Use of the photography/video area is free. Any camera (including cell phones) can be used for taking pictures and video; although you'll see better results with a higher quality camera. Cameras are available for checkout in the MakerSpace. There is no charge to borrow the camera; however, you must have an unlimited Library Card in good standing. Bring blank media such as a flash drive, CD/DVD, or a portable device with storage to save your media. You can also upload your media online. Flash drives are available for purchase.

Cost

  • Photo prints: $0.50 each
  • 8GB flash drive: $5 each

Station Reservations

Please note:

Downtown Main Library

  • Customers are permitted one 60-minute session per day.
  • There is a 10-minute grace period before reservations are automatically cancelled.
  • The computer shut off and erase all data stored to it when a session expires.
  • Reservations can be made up to six weeks in advance.

Forest Park Branch

  • Customers are permitted one two hour session per day.
